Hull Young People’s Parliament
On Wednesday 15th February the planning team for Hull Young People’s Parliament met at kelvin Hall to plan for the next parliament which takes place on Friday 10th March. For the first time student leaders from Kelvin took part in the session and gave their views on the format and content of the programme. The focus of the day is ‘political awareness’ and ‘curriculum for life’; two themes that the previous parliament had asked for. Student leaders showed that they have a keen interest in both of these subjects. Hull MP Karl Turner will lead a ‘Question Time’ session where student leaders will be able to ask questions based on their own interests and also current affairs and Kelvin’s student leaders ably demonstrated that there will be a wide range of questions that Mr Turner will be faced with ranging from local issues to national and even international issues! Hull Young People’s Parliament organisers thanked the students for their input to the meeting and everyone is very excited about the chance to debate real world issues with their peers across the city.
