GCSE Mock Results Day
Year 11 pupils came into school on Monday 22nd January 2018 for a dedicated GCSE Mock Results Day.
The school was closed to pupils from all other year groups to allow year 11s and their teachers to focus on the pupils’ achievements in their mock exams and how best they can work with their current levels of progress to ensure they get the best possible results in the summer.
Throughout the day, pupils split into small groups to take part in one-to-one interviews with their subject teachers and attend workshops with external companies who specialise in boosting pupils’ study skills.
Representatives from local colleges, sixth forms, training providers and the careers service also came in to school to discuss their requirements when further education courses when pupils leave school.
Mrs Grandidge, Senior Director for Raising Standards, said: “This is the third year that we have held a Mock Results Day and it has been really successful.
“The students were really nervous about getting their results but most felt much better after speaking to their subject teachers, who advised them on what they needed to do to improve and make further progress.
“The seminars - Reach for the Stars, Hit the Mark, Strategies for Success and Study Skills were really useful and feedback from the pupils was excellent.
“We ended the day with a parents’ evening, which was well attended. Thanks to all who attended both parts of the day for making it really successful.”
